Cardiac Observation LPN — Expert Nursing & IV Therapy

Job Summary

The Certified LPN at North Mississippi Health Services plays a vital role in providing a wide variety of nursing functions to support the medical plan of care, adhering to hospital/departmental policies and procedures. Responsibilities include patient care, documentation, teaching, and performing IV therapy, ensuring age‑appropriate care and maintaining positive relations with patients, families, and medical staff. The LPN must possess problem‑solving skills to handle stressful situations and respond to changing patient needs effectively.

• Provide a wide variety of nursing functions to support the medical plan of care in compliance with hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
• Assist in maintaining patient records through daily nursing summaries, Medicare charting, acute care charting, and accurate medication administration records.
• Contribute to nursing care plans.
• Provide patient/family teaching necessary for continuing care during and after discharge.
• Perform IV therapy utilizing hospital guidelines.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must meet continuing education requirements as defined.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – State licensure required.
• CPR certification required.
• Must complete 24–32 hours orientation MIS computer training.
• Maintain knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
• Organize and prioritize work assignments, delegate appropriately to nursing assistants, assist new employees in orientation, and project a positive image of the unit to all customers.
