JOB SUMMARY

Resource Nurse coordinates and provides direct patient care to ambulatory walk-in infusion patients for various therapy types. Ensures timely and quality documentation in the medical record, participates in clinical activities for patients receiving infusion therapy, and educates patients and staff. Holds authority to make decisions related to nurse scheduling, clinical judgment, and selection of infusion devices.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate and provide direct patient care to ambulatory walk-in infusion patients for all therapy types (antibiotics, blood, chemo, injections, pump refills).
  • Ensure timely and quality documentation in the permanent medical record for clinical, legal, and reimbursement purposes.
  • Participate in clinical activities for patients receiving infusion therapy on continuous pumps, PICC/Midline services, and specialty drug education.
  • Engage in patient and staff education to optimize outcomes.
  • Review and monitor patient charts and reporting documentation.
  • Charge account and manage Safety Solutions/ADR.
  • Admit patients into computer systems according to policy procedures.
  • Maintain inventory and assist with billing.
  • Consult with ancillary areas as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS Education
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with State Licensure or Compact State Licensure
Work Experience
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Broad knowledge of diverse patient diagnoses, ages, and infusion therapies, including IV therapy, chemotherapy, pediatric injection, and pump operations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with various methods of delivering infusion therapies and ability to make recommendations to physicians.
  • Competence in working with patients, pharmacy staff, physicians, discharge planners, and family members on a daily basis.
