Job SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients in clinic and acute care settings while adhering to established standards and protocols. This position provides patient education, maintains accurate documentation, and ensures clinical competence through continuing education. The Nurse Practitioner demonstrates leadership skills to work independently, exercise professional judgment, and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, patients, and families while ensuring high‑quality and cost‑efficient patient care.
JobFunctions
- Patient Care – Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the clinic setting and/or acute care setting according to the scope of practice outlined by the Board of Nursing, approved protocols, national standards, and directed by the physician preceptor.
- Patient Education – Provides patients/families with education related to the disease process, health, and wellness; serves as a resource for community agencies as appropriate.
- Documentation – Ensures timely and accurate documentation of patient status and care activities including treatments, procedures, and medications prescribed.
- Continuing Education – Maintains clinical competence and stays abreast of changes in medical management by participating in a variety of health care education activities.
- Master's Degree in nursing with appropriate licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current AHA CPR certification.
- 1–3 years of experience; if degree was obtained online and not through a Hybrid campus, must have completed a minimum of 2 years work experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years RN clinical experience in a setting appropriate to practice.
- Maintains and enhances knowledge and skills in current technology and practice to provide care to appropriate population.
- Ability to work without close supervision, exercise independent judgment, organize multiple tasks and maintain control of workflow.
- Professional demeanor at all times and promotes harmonious, cooperative working relationships.
