Baptist Urgent Care is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this fast-paced urgent care setting, you'll provide compassionate, patient-centered care for non-life-threatening conditions, support diagnostics and treatments, administer medications and vaccinations, and assist providers with procedures. You'll collaborate closely with a supportive, community-focused team that values integrity, empathy, and quality service. Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to individuals presenting with non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries in an urgent care setting
- Obtain and document patient histories, chief complaints, and vital signs using the electronic medical record system
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times
- Administer medications, injections, and vaccinations per provider orders and within the LPN scope of practice
- Perform and document point-of-care tests, EKGs, and specimen collection for laboratory processing
- Support wound care, splinting, and basic orthopedic interventions as directed by the provider
- Prioritize and manage patient flow, including triage support, to maintain timely and efficient care
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care in a compassionate, easy-to-understand manner
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and quality protocols to maintain a clean and safe clinical environment
- Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff to deliver patient-centered, team-based care
- Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and quality improvement initiatives to support high standards of care

- Vital signs measurement
- Wound care and basic dressings
- Medication administration
- Point-of-care testing (strep, flu, COVID, urinalysis, etc.)
- EKG performance
- Injections and vaccinations
- Specimen collection and handling
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation
- Triage and patient flow management
- Basic phlebotomy and IV starts (if within scope)
- Infection control and standard precautions
- Patient education and discharge instructions
- Critical thinking and clinical judgment in urgent care settings
- Team communication in multidisciplinary healthcare environment
