Certified Security Officer

Job Summary

The Certified Security Officer at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for ensuring the security of the facility, personnel, patients, and visitors of NMHS and maintaining ongoing required certifications. This role utilizes strong communication and organizational skills to monitor the NMHS facility, respond to and document any incidents that occur, remain up-to-date on best practices in security procedures, enforce all applicable policies, procedures, and law, and maintain a strong reputation and relationship across NMHS.

• Perform general security work at North Mississippi Medical Center.
• Provide protection of people and property of NMMC.
• Enforce and gain compliance of all applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
• Patrol NMHS Tupelo properties, responding to and documenting all security and safety concerns.

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Minimum of 80 hours of departmental orientation and training required.

• International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Basic Certification within 1 year (required)
• Certification in Crisis Intervention Instructions within 1 year (required)
• Certified Emergency Responder Course within 1 year (required)
• SSGT Certified within 1 year (required)
• Annual Review required

• Remain alert and conscious of surroundings and circumstances (required)
• Maintain professionalism by staying up-to-date on changing trends of security procedures and practices (required)
• Enforce hospital policies, guidelines, and procedures (required)
• Interact with all other departments within the hospital including patients, visitors, employees, vendors and contractors (required)
• Maintain an effective relationship with all law enforcement agencies (required)
• Maintain an effective uniform and professional attitude (required)
