Maintenance Project Worker

FLSA STATUS:
Non-Exempt

Job Goal

To maintain the operational efficiency and excellence of all district facilities in a manner that allows their full education use at all times.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Possesses sufficient knowledge and skills to perform general construction assignments including interior and exterior work throughout the school district. Possesses knowledge of the construction process including material estimations as well as reading and interpreting prints and documents. Possesses specific construction skills including, but not limited to, the following: installation/repair of all types of roofs, ceiling, and floor tiles; caulking, glazing, and painting;

    installation of concrete footings, foundations, finishing of concrete surfaces, and masonry work.
  • Accounts for all materials and labor relative to work assignments.
  • Maintains all safety and code requirements according to established guidelines.
  • Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintains the inventory of district-owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies.
  • Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Writes routine reports and correspondence.
  • Performs various other related work assignments as instructed by the Director of Maintenance.
  • On call 24 hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and he or she is required to talk and to hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms in such a manner as to operate vibrating machinery. The employee is required to sit, squat, stoop, kneel, or reach above the head as well as to reach forward.

    The employee frequently uses hand strength to grasp tools and to climb on ladders. The employee will often bend or twist and the neck and waist while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 pounds. The employee will sometimes push or pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and cabinets.

    Specific vision abilities used by this employee include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Terms Of Employment

    Twelve-month year. Salary to be established by the Board.
