Court Researcher -Rankin & Madison Counties, MS

We are seeking a Part‑Time Criminal Court Researcher in Mississippi (Rankin & Madison Counties). The candidate must be authorized to work in the United States, live within 30 minutes of the courthouse, and possess a valid driver’s license.

Our Part‑Time Criminal Court Researcher plays a traveling research role, crucial for completing criminal background checks. You’ll use investigative skills to research and collect criminal background information, support our clients, prescreen applicants, review and interpret public record information, and keep workplaces safe. You will work independently in the morning hours.

Compensation is a temporary gas stipend of $200 per jurisdiction per month and hourly pay of $16.00 to $17.00 USD.

Location:

Rankin & Madison Counties. Part‑time: 20 hours per week (≈4 hours per day, Monday‑Friday). Hours can vary within morning courthouse hours (e.g., 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Central Time).

• Travel to assigned courthouses to research and review criminal and/or civil public record information from onsite electronic court systems.
• Perform additional research as required from applicable websites.
• Interpret court records and other relevant information from courts and state agencies, accurately document, edit, and modify results of searches from courts, agencies, state repositories, and other databases.
• Contact courts and state agencies when pursuing additional information to ensure compliance and provide accurate, detailed results and case information to the CRRG via database integration or email.
• Conduct criminal background checks using various electronic public access systems at criminal courthouses.
• Use public access criminal court record information (via phone, fax, web, Wi‑Fi) to conduct criminal history searches and verify information for criminal records.
• Scan and upload search results and investigate and provide updates on new and/or improved methods of performing criminal background checks.

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred experience in legal court research).
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel daily to courthouses.
• Ability to read legal documentation, high‑level administrative experience, and/or professional work experience, with a preference for legal court research experience.
• Reliable Wi‑Fi at home and access to a document shredder.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Strong organizational, research, and time‑management skills; capable of working independently while following directions.
• Ability to work under pressure with time‑sensitive projects and meet tight deadlines with extreme accuracy and detail orientation.

Hourly wage: $16.00‑$17.00 USD. The range reflects our good‑faith estimate and is tailored based on experience, industry knowledge, and technical and communication skills.
