Shuttle Driver

Job Description

Gartman Transfer is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Shuttle Driver to transport trailers between the Port of Gulfport and a nearby warehouse. This local CDL truck driving role offers a stable, home-daily schedule and the opportunity to work in a supportive environment. The position requires a driver who is experienced in trailer hook-up, vehicle inspection, and maintaining compliance with DOT and company safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Shuttle loaded and empty trailers between the Port of Gulfport and local warehouse locations
• Safely hook and unhook trailers multiple times throughout the workday
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Comply with all DOT regulations and internal safety procedures
• Maintain accurate documentation and records related to routes and vehicle status
• Communicate effectively using handheld devices and manual methods with dispatch and port personnel
• Perform physical tasks required for connecting and disconnecting trailers

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL
• Valid TWIC Card
• Experience with trailer hook-up and drop-and-hook operations
• Strong safety compliance and clean driving record
• Excellent communication skills with dispatch and port personnel
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks repeatedly throughout the day
• Reliable record keeping and documentation abilities

This is a single-driver role with daily local routes, providing opportunities for overtime and advancement within Gartman Transfer.
