Position: Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences (Invertebrate Zoology)

Overview

Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences (Invertebrate Zoology). The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University, Stanislaus invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will meet a critical need in Invertebrate Zoology. Stanislaus State is a Hispanic-Serving Institution with a high proportion of first-generation college students, and is committed to student success through teaching, scholarship, and service.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses for biology majors in invertebrate zoology and related areas (e.g., parasitology, entomology) as well as other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, including potential new courses.
  • Provide service courses including general education or core courses in the MS Biological Sciences program as needed.
  • Develop and maintain an active research program appropriate for a primarily undergraduate institution; apply empirical or theoretical approaches with strong experimental design and analytical methods.
  • Engage in mentorship and advising, contribute to student success through culturally responsive teaching, and participate in service to the Department and University.
  • Seek internal and external funding opportunities to support research and student collaboration.
Minimum qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in the biological sciences.
  • Scholarship, professional engagement, and expertise in invertebrate zoology or closely related field.
  • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching of a varied student population, including first-generation college students.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to promote student success through mentorship, advising, research, service, and other high impact practices.
Preferred qualifications
  • Expertise in parasitology and/or entomology.
  • College teaching experience in the biological sciences.
  • Post-doctoral research experience.
  • Strong record of advancing success of all participants in educational or academic contexts.

  • Compensation

    Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Anticipated hiring range is $7,075 - $7,287 per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). CSU offers a competitive benefits package.
