PositionTEMPORARY LECTURER IN TEACHER
EDUCATION:
The Department of Teacher Education invites applications for a temporary lecturer appointment. Part-time appointment to begin in Fall 2026. Duties include teaching Science Methods course(s) in the Multiple Subject Credential Program (MSCP) in the Department of Teacher Education. Additional responsibilities include holding office hours for students; participation in course collaboration meetings, and program-related training. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.
- Master s in Education.
- Demonstrated expertise in the teaching of Science or Science Education.
- A minimum of five years of K-8 teaching experience in a general education and/or multiple-subject context.
- Strong evidence of teaching effectiveness (
Note:
Applicant must include evaluations of prior teaching experience.) - Strong generic training with skills and experience in assessment, curriculum, and instruction of students.
- Strong knowledge of science pedagogical frameworks (e.g., the 5E Instructional Model, phenomena-based instruction) and their application to teaching and learning.
- Teaching Credential with specialization in Science
- Expertise in methods to teach English Learners
- Knowledge of the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Framework
- Familiarity with the California K-8 Content Standards for ELA and ELD
- Expertise with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
- Experience teaching and supervising adults
- Knowledge of technology for online teaching and Canvas LMS

CompensationCommensurate with qualifications and experience. As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.
Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range
2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Salary rates for California State University Lecturers (Academic Year) can be found in the schedules linked below.
The Department of Teacher Education offers professional teacher credentialing programs in Single Subject (secondary education), Multiple Subject (elementary education) and Education Specialist, Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Severe credential. Credential programs have developed a strong partnership with neighboring schools where students do fieldwork and take many credential courses. All programs have accreditation from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
