OverviewLecturer in Music:
The Department of Music invites applications for a pool of prospective part‑time teaching appointments to teach lower and upper division music education courses and specialized instrument lessons. Candidates are encouraged to indicate their specialty as well as their teaching experience. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding and the institutional need for faculty.
- Teach lower and upper division music education courses.
- Provide specialized instrument lessons.
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities as required.
Minimum qualifications: A Master’s degree in Music is required.
Preferred qualifications: Prior college‑level teaching experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. New hire lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule; others are normally placed in Range
2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full‑time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
