POSITION
Lecturer openings in English. Positions will teach primarily composition and critical thinking, with an emphasis on argumentative writing. Openings may also be available for general‑education literature, humanities survey courses, and technical or professional writing. Well‑qualified lecturers will be considered for literature, humanities, or technical/professional writing courses.
RESPONSIBILITIESTeach assigned English courses, prepare lesson plans, deliver lectures, assess student work, provide feedback, and maintain professional development in composition, critical thinking, literature, and writing courses.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- M.A. in English or a related field (required)
- Demonstrated success in community‑college or university‑level teaching emphasizing writing instruction
- Ph.D. in English or a related field (preferred)
- Evidence of effective teaching methods in composition and critical thinking courses
- Evidence of effective teaching in literature or humanities courses
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. New hires with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3; others in Range
2. Salaries are prorated based on units assigned and paid in six monthly payments each semester.
Faculty must be immunized against COVID‑19 or declare a medical or religious exemption.
MANDATED REPORTERPosition holders are mandated reporters under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
