Position: Program Coordinator (SSP IV)

Position Summary

Full‑time position available on or after August 1, 2026, for Community Engagement & Belonging. Under general supervision, the coordinator supports and leads Registered Student Organizations and Greek Life, providing guidance to student‑led groups and supporting engagement, leadership development, and university event processes while encouraging a sense of community through campus involvement.

The coordinator delivers individualized advising, workshops, academic and personal success interventions, and referrals to campus and community resources. They serve as a key point of contact for participants navigating campus systems and accessing academic, leadership, and wellness resources. Responsibilities also include maintaining records, supporting department‑wide programs and initiatives, and, as needed, leading or supervising support staff or interns.

Job Duties
  • Lead conceptualization, planning, coordination, and continuous enhancement of identity‑based and equity‑centered student success initiatives.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain a diverse set of programs and services tailored to student engagement, retention, and holistic development.
  • Coordinate and administer programs, events, and projects; facilitate student involvement in campus life.
  • Plan and organize work requirements and tasks within assigned areas of responsibility; determine priorities and select methodology.
  • Handle unusual situations independently, solving problems and making impacted decisions.
  • Perform major program analysis for an entire division; collaborate with cross‑divisional partners to align services with equity goals.
  • Provide oversight for daily operations including service delivery, scheduling, and logistics.
  • Monitor and manage program budgets, procurement processes, and expenditure tracking.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate student assistants, interns, and support staff.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, operational standards, and workflows.
  • Maintain secure records of student services, outcomes, and engagement.
  • Support strategic planning and reporting with divisional leadership; contribute to accreditation and grant reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with university and CSU policies.
  • Advocate for students’ academic progress, well‑being, and sense of belonging; assist students in problem‑solving and decision‑making.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource and case manager for high‑need and underrepresented students; develop and lead evaluation frameworks to assess program quality and outcomes.
  • Conduct studies and surveys; prepare reports with recommendations based on results.
  • Review and propose revisions to policies, practices, and structures; provide guidance for new procedures or systems.
  • Develop written materials for student learning and staff training; deliver peer educator and student assistant training.
  • Remain current with industry standards through required training or certification.
  • Provide support to other departments or areas as directed by an administrator; assist with campus‑wide signature events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduation from a four‑year college or university in a related field plus upper‑division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution.
  • Experience: Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional student services work; includes advising students individually and in groups, and complex student services problem resolution.
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Doctorate and appropriate internship or clinical training may substitute for two years of experience for positions with major counseling responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four years experience supporting student organizations, student governments, or Greek life.
  • Experience working with students from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Master’s degree in student affairs, education, guidance and counseling, administration, or social work.
  • Experience using student organization/event management platforms (e.g., Presence, Campus Groups, Org Sync).
