Full‑time position available on or after August 1, 2026 in the Community Engagement Belonging unit. Under general supervision the coordinator supports and leads the Male Success Initiative (MSI). The role focuses on student growth and academic success by creating inclusive spaces where students feel safe to express vulnerability, embrace authenticity, and build community. Responsibilities include advancing academic, personal, and leadership development, coordinating equity‑driven programs, fostering civic engagement, and supporting student persistence to graduation.

Responsibilities

The coordinator delivers individualized advising, workshops, academic and personal success interventions, and referrals to campus and community resources. The role requires managing caseloads or cohorts, collaborating with campus and community partners, and supporting student success through strategic planning, program assessment, and data‑informed decision making. The coordinator also maintains records, supports department‑wide programs, events, and initiatives, and may serve as a lead for support staff or interns.

Job Duties
  • Program Development, Coordination, and Administration
    • Lead the conceptualization, planning, coordination, and continuous enhancement of identity‑based and equity‑centered student success initiatives.
    • Develop, coordinate, and maintain a diverse set of programs and services tailored to address student engagement, retention, and holistic development.
    • Coordinate and administer programs, events, and projects.
    • Facilitate student involvement in campus life, determining work priorities and selecting methodologies.
    • Handle unusual situations, solve problems, and make decisions that impact other staff and departments.
    • Perform major program analysis for the division and collaborate with cross‑divisional partners to align services with campus equity goals.
    • Provide guidance and advocacy to support students’ academic progress and sense of belonging.
    • Assist students in problem‑solving, decision‑making, and navigating institutional processes.
    • Advocate for individual and group student needs with administrators, faculty, and staff.
    • Engage in high‑level problem‑solving with students in complex or sensitive group situations.
    • Serve as a knowledgeable resource and case manager for high‑need and underrepresented students.
    • Develop and lead evaluation frameworks to assess program quality and student outcomes.
    • Conduct studies and surveys, prepare reports with recommendations.
    • Review policies, practices, and organizational structures, proposing revisions as needed.
    • Provide guidance for new procedures or systems and make recommendations on policy formulation.
    • Develop written materials for student learning and staff training.
    • Prepare internal reports, annual assessments, and institutional effectiveness documentation.
    • Deliver peer educator and student assistant training.
    • Ensure compliance, continuous improvement, and oversight of daily operations.
    • Monitor and manage program budgets, procurement processes, and expenditure tracking.
    • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate student assistants, interns, and support staff.
    • Maintain secure records of student services and outcomes.
    • Support strategic planning and reporting with divisional leadership.
    • Contribute to accreditation and grant reporting efforts.
    • Ensure compliance with university and CSU policies.
    • May obtain additional training or certification as required.
    • Support other areas at the direction of the administrator as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduated from a four‑year college or university in a related field; upper‑division or graduate coursework in counseling, interviewing and conflict resolution.
  • Experience:

    Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional student services work, including advising individually and in groups and analyzing complex student service problems.
