Instructional Student Assistant Employment Opportunity

Job title and description: Student Research Assistant

Responsibilities
  • Computational modeling of the afterglows of GRBs, both real and simulated.
  • Improve and update afterglow fitting and modeling codes, including implementing additional physics.
  • Carry out numerical simulations of relativistic shocks.

Wage/Salary: $18/hr

Hours per Week: 40

Location: Turlock campus

Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
  • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Astronomy and Physics knowledge.
  • Experience in programming languages such as Python and C++.
  • Experience working in Linux operating systems and in cluster computing.
