JOB DESCRIPTION:

One graduate student (or advanced undergrad) research assistant to support a project that is examining student engagement and belonging in STEM. The student assistant will collect and analyze quantitative data (student surveys) and qualitative data (interviews and focus groups) for students in a first‑year experience course primarily for biology majors. Work will be conducted in close collaboration with Dr. Matthew Cover, professor of biology.

Wage/Salary: $20.00/HR

Hours per Week: 5-10 (up to 40 during winter and summer breaks)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
• Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A strong interest in STEM education; previous experience with qualitative research and/or mentoring of undergraduate students.
