Job Summary

The ASI Programs Graduate Assistant, under the supervision of the ASI Assistant Director of Programs & Marketing, is responsible for the assistance in and/or the planning, execution, advising, and supervision of assigned student engagement events on campus.

Events and programs that are highlighted each year through the ASI and SC programming department are:
Campus spirit initiatives (i.e., promotion of Wearing red on Wednesdays, spirit events, etc.), special events (i.e., Homecoming Week, Warrior Day Festival, Stan Week, etc.), Student Center events (i.e., movie nights, Warrior Wednesday activities, comedy shows, bingo nights, musical performances, talent shows, etc.), and Weekend Warrior Program (i.e., trips to local amusement parks, concerts, museums, athletic games, etc.).

ASI Programs Graduate Assistant will work with other programming units with the assistance of Code Red Entertainment (CRE).

Duties
  • Assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and programs related to ASI & SC.
  • Research and implement creative activities, programs, events, and campaigns on the Turlock Campus.
  • Assist with planning, implementing, advising, supervising, and evaluating a variety of events throughout the year.
  • Assist with scheduling promotion of all pertinent ASI & SC events & programs.
  • Directly oversee Code Red Entertainment (CRE), the event programming volunteer unit for the department.
  • Work with the Code Red Entertainment Oversight Committee to track Code Red Entertainment engagement efforts and point system.
  • Assist with maintaining and monitoring ASI & SC programming budget and expenditures.
  • Collaborate with other programming units to assist in all programing event/ campaign needs within ASI & SC.
  • Research performers, complete engagement contracts, collect insurance, and complete all paperwork pertaining to each programming event before the designated deadlines.
  • Support in the set up and arrangement of equipment & supplies related to programs executed (i.e., a-frames, feather flags, banners, tables, activity supplies, misc. decorations, and signage, etc.).
  • Assist in collecting data and providing information on implemented events and programs for programming assessments.
  • Research new trends related to student engagement on university campuses and lead brainstorming sessions with the programming student coordinators/ Code Red Entertainment.
  • Research and lead effective team building opportunities for student assistants and members.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Code Red Entertainment volunteers.
  • Assist and lead in the coordination of the Programming Department trainings and retreats.
  • Off-site purchasing of materials and supplies needed for the execution of programs.
  • Attend weekly meetings for Code Red Entertainment members as well as Programming staff meetings.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the ASI Assistant Director of Programs & Marketing.

Required
  • Currently enrolled, matriculating CSU Stanislaus graduate student with a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
  • Must be available Mondays from 4pm-6pm
  • Work an average of 20 flexible hours per week
  • May be required to work some off campus events
  • Will be required to work some evenings and weekends
  • Must possess and maintain a valid CA Driver’s License, maintain appropriate auto insurance, and have access to a vehicle that is in safe mechanical condition.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Physical requirements and working conditions include, but are not limited to, sitting for extended periods; frequently standing and walking; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; lifting and moving objects weighing up to 20 lbs.; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment, including computer, telephone, copiers.

Work is performed in an office environment and throughout the campus areas during student programs, continuous contact with other staff, students, faculty, and the public.
