Temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant position available in the Library.
Start DatePosition available on or after August 24, 2026 and ending on or before May 31, 2027. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.
Job Description /DutiesDuties include but are not limited to:
- Interest in learning about Special Collections & University Archives (SCUA) policies and procedures, and the ability to communicate SCUA services to patrons.
- Photocopy and digitally scan materials for reference queries as needed.
- Shelve materials requiring special handling.
- Follow SCUA policies and procedures to assist with collection processing, access, and preservation tasks.
- Perform individual projects that can include data entry and use of Microsoft Office software such as Excel and Word.
- Assist with digitization projects, including operating scanners, careful handling of original materials, and checking integrity of digital scans.
- Some outreach tabling activities may be requested on occasion.
Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsPreferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and ability to problem-solve.
- Demonstrates academic research experience using a variety of databases and applications.
- Demonstrates service-oriented experience.
- Demonstrates the desire to help others in a fast-paced work environment.
- Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with library faculty and staff.
- Demonstrates good academic standing
- Previous work experience demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
- Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
- Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
$17.90 per hour.
