Electrician | Turlock, CA
Compensation: Starting range of $39.54/Hr, paid bi-weekly.
Available Shift: 7AM - 3PM Monday - Friday.
Position OverviewThe Maintenance Electrician position will provide electrical and mechanical maintenance work to the facility and industrial machinery. Individuals will have strong understanding of electrical code, schematics, industrial specifications, and the use of common electrician tools. The facility operates 24 hours per day, 5‑6 days per week.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Work with assigned production and maintenance employees to complete troubleshooting or repairs based on maintenance work orders and inventory.
- May work with materials and production to complete assigned projects and improvements.
- Troubleshoot electrical, computer, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment/systems used in industrial manufacturing applications.
- Understand and follow electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications using hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment.
- Disassemble, repair/replace parts and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, and fans.
- Cleans, lubricates, and adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
- Perform major electrical repairs including 24
VDC, 120
VAC control systems, 3‑phase systems up to 480V, PLCs, VFDs. - Work with AC and DC drives, instrumentation, and hydraulic/pneumatic controls.
- Maintain industrial temperature control systems, including thermocouples, temperature controllers, solid‑state relays, and heating elements.
- Install new equipment, replace, and test electrical circuits.
- Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using test instruments such as ammeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, testing lamps, or Megger.
- Replace faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.
- Remove and replace electrical transformers and lighting fixtures as needed.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, including lock‑out/tag‑out.
- Communicate problems encountered throughout the shift to Production Supervisor, Maintenance Lead, or Maintenance Manager.
- Operate any equipment needed to perform the job.
- Must be capable of covering both mechanical and electrical equipment without support on off shifts.
- Has operating knowledge of all production and service equipment.
- 5+ years electrical maintenance experience with strong electrical/mechanical knowledge of industrial systems and automated technologies.
- 2‑year electrical degree or similar education preferred but not required.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Trained in lock out/tag out procedures.
- Must pass an electrical aptitude test.
- Must be Arc Flash certified or have the ability to become Arc Flash certified.
- Must possess excellent troubleshooting skills.
- PLC troubleshooting experience and work with tension controllers are a plus.
- VFD troubleshooting and replacement.
- Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
- Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.
- Must be able to accurately observe correct paths of travel and areas for product placement.
- Must be able to communicate and exchange information with teammates.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
