Salary Range: $25.00 to $30.00 per year

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Complex Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on all equipment throughout the mill operation. This individual will also minimize downtime by detecting potential mechanical and electrical problems.

Essential Functions
  • Must have good analytical skills, able to troubleshoot and make on‑the‑spot corrections to emergency conditions.
  • Capable of climbing stairs and ladders and working safely at elevated heights of 200 feet and confined space.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, electrical schematics, engineering drawings, power transmission, pneumatics, welding and cutting.
  • Light industrial electric experience required; also hydraulics, power transmissions, and pneumatics; basic computer knowledge; previous feed mill experience desired.
Additional Responsibilities

Perform related duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of safety, inventory and maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Computer systems to create spreadsheets is a plus.
  • Technical and mechanical systems related to operation.
  • Maintain high quality control standards; effectively problem‑solve, supervise and troubleshoot.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff throughout the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Evaluate employees fairly and objectively.
  • Work flexible hours, overtime and rotating weekends.
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in feed mill maintenance, industrial, or a production environment (college coursework in technical field desired).
  • MS Office – Excel, Word; strong organizational skills with the ability to multi‑task and prioritize.

  • Occasional use of keyboard, frequent reading and close‑up work.
  • Frequent sitting for long periods; occasional bending or squatting.
  • Constant use of vision; frequent decision‑making and concentration.
  • Frequent hearing and talking, in person and on the phone; frequent exposure to noise.
  • Occasional lifting up to 55 pounds.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a typical outdoor environment subject to street or field noise and environment, including exposure to loud equipment and machinery. Some duties involve working in a typical temperature‑controlled office environment. Position may require work outside regular business hours, including weekends, holidays and occasional travel to other company locations.
