Group Support Coordinator
Our client, a respected nonprofit organization serving children, teens, and families, is seeking compassionate and organized Group Support Coordinators to join their team.
Currently have a full-time and part-time position available. These roles focus on facilitating grief support groups, supporting school-based programs, and creating safe, trauma-informed environments where children, teens, and families can heal and grow. Responsibilities- Serve as lead staff for multiple peer support groups each week.
- Facilitate support groups for children, teens, and families using trauma-informed practices.
- Lead evening group sessions while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.
- Respond appropriately to participant safety concerns and mandated reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure appropriate follow-up for participating families.
- Provide support during community critical incidents as needed.
- Assist with onsite and school-based support groups.
- Implement therapeutic activities, including art, movement, music, dramatic play, outdoor activities, and other expressive experiences that promote healing.
- Support high-quality programming designed to engage children, teens, and families experiencing grief and loss.
- Help ensure consistency and best practices across all support programs.
- Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to ensure successful group programming.
- Assist with volunteer coordination and group support as needed.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Provide leadership during assigned group sessions and special events.
- Represent the organization at community events and outreach opportunities.
- Provide presentations, tours, or program information as assigned.
- Travel locally throughout the year to support school-based and community programming.
- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, Human Services, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience working with children, adolescents, and families.
- Experience supporting individuals and families experiencing grief, trauma, or significant life challenges preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and child development.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable facilitating groups and speaking to small audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel.
- Full-time position
- Evening availability required for support groups.
- Occasional weekend hours for special events.
- Local travel required to support school and community-based programming.
