Technician IV-Engineering

Microchip has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician IV at our facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

• Support Engineering Activities including design, test, check‑out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, RF/Microwave devices and specialized test equipment.
• Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, check‑out and troubleshooting functions.
• Perform operation test and fault isolation on systems and equipment; assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
• Assist in design, construction, test and check‑out of test equipment.
• Use manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment including, but not limited to test programs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.

• Associate’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience and a proven track record of excellence in electronics assembly and testing.
• Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings.
• Experience in soldering and cable assembly.
• Proven ability to multi‑task and remain highly organized.
• Comfortable working with cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to fast‑paced environment.
• Strong commitment to teamwork and process.
• Proficiency in documentation generation, organization and storage.

• BS/BA in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• J‑STD certification (terminals and wires, through‑hole technology and surface‑mount technology).
• Experience in high‑precision timing, test and measurement.
• Experience with ultra‑high vacuum systems.
  
  Proficiency in space‑qualified construction and testing techniques.
• RF design capabilities.
  
  FPGA programming experience.
