Test Engineer, Electronics Technician, Electronics Engineer
Microchip has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician IV at our facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Responsibilities- Support Engineering Activities including design, test, check‑out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, RF/Microwave devices and specialized test equipment.
- Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, check‑out and troubleshooting functions.
- Perform operation test and fault isolation on systems and equipment; assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
- Assist in design, construction, test and check‑out of test equipment.
- Use manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment including, but not limited to test programs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience and a proven track record of excellence in electronics assembly and testing.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings.
- Experience in soldering and cable assembly.
- Proven ability to multi‑task and remain highly organized.
- Comfortable working with cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to fast‑paced environment.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and process.
- Proficiency in documentation generation, organization and storage.
- BS/BA in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- J‑STD certification (terminals and wires, through‑hole technology and surface‑mount technology).
- Experience in high‑precision timing, test and measurement.
- Experience with ultra‑high vacuum systems.
Proficiency in space‑qualified construction and testing techniques. - RF design capabilities.
FPGA programming experience.
