Laempe Reich is seeking a hands-on, highly organized Project Engineer to coordinate equipment projects, support engineering activities, and help expand our technical capabilities and value-added services. This position combines project management, mechanical design, customer coordination, simulation, and manufacturing support.

The successful candidate will work closely with customers, international equipment partners, and our internal service and engineering teams to move projects from initial planning through installation and completion.

Key Responsibilities Project Management and Coordination
  • Serve as a primary point of coordination among:
  • Customers’ engineering and plant operations teams
  • Laempe Mössner Sinto engineering and manufacturing teams
  • The Laempe Reich service team
  • Coordinate equipment installation requirements, site preparations, schedules, and project deliverables.
  • Maintain project plans and milestones using individual Gantt charts in Microsoft Project or similar software.
  • Manage and update the company’s online planning system.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential scheduling or technical issues, and help drive timely resolution.
  • Implement improvements to project-management processes using new technologies, tools, and methods.
  • Coordinate daily engineering priorities to make effective use of available time and resources.
Engineering and Design
  • Prepare and maintain project-specific equipment layout drawings.
  • Customize standard Laempe equipment drawings for individual customer applications.
  • Develop and maintain:
  • Two-dimensional equipment and facility layouts
  • Three-dimensional equipment and peripheral-system models
  • Three-dimensional animations, when appropriate
  • Drawings and specifications for platforms, hopper supports, sand heaters, and related peripheral equipment
  • Maintain the general Laempe Reich drawing database and associated engineering records.
  • Develop tooling information, reference drawings, and three-dimensional tooling models.
  • Support the development of technical presentations and animations for customers and internal teams.
Simulation and Process Support
  • Prepare three-dimensional core models for simulation.
  • Develop gassing and venting arrangements and perform calculations based on applicable industry practices.
  • Use Arena-flow software to conduct core-blowing and gassing optimization studies. Coordinate simulation activities and incorporate simulation findings into customer and Core Room projects, as applicable.
  • Assist with improvements to Core Room production and the parts-support facility.
Technology and Innovation
  • Manage and utilize three-dimensional printing capabilities to expand Laempe Reich’s value-added services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, project execution, customer support, and technical services.
  • Perform additional duties that contribute to the growth and innovation of Reich Companies’ services.
Travel Requirements

This position requires occasional travel, including:

  • Customer and prospective-customer site visits throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada
  • Equipment installation and service support
  • Trade-show assistance
  • Visits to partner facilities in Germany
  • Customer equipment runoff and verification visits in Germany

A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally are required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Project engineering or project-management experience in industrial equipment, manufacturing, automation, foundry operations, or a related environment
  • Experience with two-dimensional drafting and three-dimensional CAD modeling
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Gantt charts, or comparable project-scheduling tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret technical drawings and equipment specifications
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, production teams, service technicians, engineers, and international partners
