You will serve as a Field Unit Local Authority (FUL) - Maintenance Worker Supervisor for Natchez Trace Parkway, Brices Crossroads National Battlefield Site, and Tupelo National Battlefield. This position is being filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL). See below under Additional Information for further eligibility guidance. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
MajorDuties
- Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
Incumbent supervises maintenance, operations, and minor construction of physical facilities within the Cherokee, AL and Tupelo, MS districts at Natchez Trace Parkway;
Brices Crossroads National Battlefield Site; and Tupelo National Battlefield. Utilizes subordinate leader positions at distinct duty stations to assist with work operations. Most facilities are used on a year-round basis and include roads, trails, bridges, drainage structures, recreational and interpretive sites, signs and exhibits, buildings, and utility systems. The incumbent of this position is not co-located with the immediate supervisor.
Most contacts with supervisor are by radio or telephone. Presents data and recommendations concerning work projects and priorities, equipment and personnel needs, cost data and justifications for proposals to his supervisor for consideration in preparing budget and estimates work programs. Within the districts and battlefields, directs the overall completion of the work. Takes personal responsibility for meeting standards and quality measures.
Assists in monitoring and reporting of results. In addition to normal supervision, this includes inspections, monitoring, sampling, developing and implementing corrective measures, and reporting. Maintains roads and trails, grounds and facilities, buildings, utilities, and equipment. Incumbent assigns work directly to subordinate maintenance employees by broad project (such as repair of a building) or by specific job (such as cutting an area to grade).
Responsible for technical accuracy of trades and other maintenance work performed in the districts and battlefields. Uses numerous maintenance and operation charge accounts to make proper charge distribution of personal services in equipment rentals, amortization reports, and time and attendance reports. Controls and assigns district equipment and personnel. Ensures data required for maintaining the Facility Management Software System is captured and provided.
Operates, services, and repair equipment. Operates 55-80 horsepower tractors with mowers or other equipment. Operates bulldozer, motor grader, excavator, or front-end loader in clearing or earth moving work (primarily rough and some finished grading in connection with maintenance or new construction).
Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
