Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR
    • Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR
    • PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience
    • An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL, and database performance tuning
  • Experience installing application software in operational environments
  • Data modeling experience
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a polygraph
Desired Qualifications
  • Security+ and/or DoD IAT Level II certification
  • Familiarity with ArangoDB, MongoDB, and/or graph database technologies
  • Experience with:
    • Containerization technologies
    • API design and development
    • Data visualization tools
    • Social network analysis

Peraton’s Space & Intelligence Sector is seeking a highly motivated Senior Database Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This role supports a critical intelligence analysis platform integrating multiple systems focused on weapon and emerging technology analysis and assessment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in database engineering, data management processes, and performance optimization while working directly with customers to deliver scalable, high‑performing data solutions.

What You’ll Do Database Engineering & Architecture
  • Develop and maintain modern, scalable database architectures
  • Support high‑volume, multi‑format data management services using a data‑first approach
  • Design and implement efficient storage, indexing, and data access strategies
  • Perform continuous database performance tuning and optimization
Data Management & Integration
  • Design and implement indexing and data cleansing strategies for ingested datasets
  • Maintain large‑scale data management solutions and enterprise data environments
  • Update data enterprise architecture models and abstraction layers to support new data sources
  • Ensure data is well‑structured, properly classified, and accessible through APIs
Customer & Mission Support
  • Collaborate directly with customers and end users to support iterative development efforts
  • Communicate progress related to data architecture, migration activities, entity resolution, and data quality improvements
  • Support deployment, maintenance, tuning, and enhancement of operational database systems

This position is fully onsite in Huntsville, AL.
