Desktop Support Technician II

The University of Alabama is hiring a Desktop Support Technician II. The role involves providing help desk and field support to university faculty and staff, including setting up PCs and peripherals, installing software and operating systems, resolving user issues, eradicating computer viruses, and escalating complex problems to senior technicians. The technician also monitors and follows up on support tickets to ensure timely resolution.

• Provides basic Help Desk and field support services to university faculty and staff.
• Sets up and installs PCs, peripheral devices, operating systems, and software.
• Resolves user problems and eradicates computer viruses.
• Escalates complex issues to senior technicians when necessary.
• Monitors and manages ticket queues, ensures follow-up until resolution.
• Required qualifications:
  
  high school diploma or GED with two years of IT technical support experience, or an associate degree and some IT experience.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver s license, be at least 19 years old, and comply with university motor vehicle policies.
• Hourly pay range: $21.25 minimum to $26.59 midpoint.
• Position is within the Enterprise Technology department supporting multiple campus departments.
• Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with eligibility for hybrid work.
