College It Support Technician I

The College IT Support Technician I provides service to faculty, staff, and students utilizing college computer systems. Performs basic on-site troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance involving computer hardware and software. Resolves issues over the phone, email, or walk-ins. Monitors requests through completion and performs all related communication with customers. Coordinates outside vendors for installation and maintenance of multimedia equipment as needed. May provide guidance and/or supervision to student IT technical workers.

May provide on-site support for server issues in the event of service outages.

Provides advanced frontline and on site technical support for instructional, classroom, event, clinical, and simulation technologies across main campus and offsite locations. Supports faculty led instruction, student learning activities, high stakes exams, and college events, including evenings and non standard hours as required. Collaborates closely with CCN IT staff, the CCN Simulation Center, and campus IT partners to troubleshoot issues, deploy solutions, and maintain continuity of operations during construction and relocation efforts.

Contributes to documentation, process improvement, equipment setup, maintenance, and inventory tracking for desktop, instructional, and simulation technologies. Supports a wide range of hardware, software, and audiovisual systems and assists with troubleshooting escalations that require physical presence, rapid response, or coordination across multiple stakeholders.

High school diploma or GED.

Strong customer service, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Ability to provide real time, onsite technical support in dynamic workspace, instructional, and clinical environments. Working knowledge of classroom AV systems, computers, peripheral devices, and instructional technologies. Ability to troubleshoot Windows and Apple based computers, mobile devices, Microsoft Office, and common academic software. Familiarity with learning spaces, event support workflows, and basic networking concepts.

Ability to document procedures, follow established standards, and escalate issues appropriately. Capacity to manage competing priorities and provide support across multiple locations and schedules. Knowledge of FERPA, HIPAA, and secure instructional environments.

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of IT support experience; OR associate's degree and four (4) years of IT support experience. Experience providing IT support in higher education, healthcare, or simulation-based learning environments. Experience supporting AV systems, lecture capture, videoconferencing, and hybrid learning spaces. Experience with simulation technologies, clinical education tools, or specialized instructional equipment.
