Web Developer IV

The University is hiring a Web Developer IV who writes and maintains complex front-end and back-end code for enterprise-level websites and applications. The role includes leading platform and deployment efforts, managing continuous integration and deployment infrastructure, and ensuring site performance and reliability across various web properties and hosting environments.

• Develops and maintains PHP and JavaScript code including custom Word Press plugins, React and Next.js applications, and theme templates.
• Leads deployment and hosting platform management, including CI/CD infrastructure with Git Hub Actions and on-premises or managed hosting targets.
• Monitors and instruments site performance, uptime, and load; diagnoses and resolves issues across code, platform, and network layers.
• Requires proficiency with PHP (Word Press), modern JavaScript (React, Next.js), HTML, CSS, Git workflows, npm, Node.js build tooling, and Word Press administration.
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree with six years’ experience or a Master’s degree with four years’ experience in web development.
• Strong understanding of DNS fundamentals, web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA), and ability to implement accessible code.
• Collaborates with strategists, designers, central IT partners, and campus web teams.
• Preferred qualifications include platform engineering or systems administration experience, Word Press multisite administration, static site generators, and managing hosted web platforms.
• Experience with Word Press hosting platforms like Pantheon and tools like Storybook, Redis, and Varnish is desirable.
• Responsible for patching, updates, rollback procedures, and approval of administrative access on deployment pipelines.
