Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for the entire life cycle of a project from inception through to closure. This includes controls design, controls installation, and retro-commissioning projects. The Project Manager ensures that the project is delivered efficiently and effectively in accordance with the agreed budget, schedule, and quality and exceeds the client's expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Participates in business development activities through response to RFQ/RFP and participation in project interview presentations.
  • Works with the client (internal or external) to define the project scope, schedule, deliverables, risks and expectations to deliver a successful project.
  • Develops a proposal to document the project scope, schedule, deliverables, measures of success and associated fee.
  • Develops an internal Work Plan to define revenue, hours budget, internal cost budget, travel budget, sub consultant budget and reimbursable amounts.
  • Develops budgets for controls installation projects that balance internal and external resources to deliver the project on schedule.
  • Ensures the revenue and budget estimates are entered into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to reflect project execution.
  • Works with Leadership to ensure the project is correctly resourced per the established budgets and schedule.
  • Schedules project tasks and resources to meet the agreed schedule within budget constraints.
  • Establishes a project Kick Off meeting and communicates with all team members effectively throughout the project.
  • Manages team members and sub-consultants to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Continuously tracks and reports project execution against budget, schedule, deliverables, cost and revenue.
  • Technically directs or executes aspects of the project where appropriate.
  • Manages client expectations and ensures regular updates are communicated throughout the project duration.
  • Ensures the project is closed out when appropriate and all commercial aspects are completed.
  • Participates in relevant organizations for networking and professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Company Leadership.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Construction, Facilities Management, or Energy.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team of technical staff.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and planning skills; effective verbal and written communication.
  • Detail-oriented and able to tackle multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of industry competitors and market context.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope when necessary.
  • Preferred experience in controls discipline, construction, facilities management, and energy sector.
  • Internal candidates may have completed our Project Management training.
Travel Requirements
  • 25-50% travel to job sites or office locations.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements
  • Long periods of sitting or standing at a desk in an office environment; usually quiet.
  • Ability to walk, climb and crawl on a project construction site on occasion.
  • Exposure to inclement weather on occasions.
