Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department position in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring 2 years of experience and active AL or compact RN licensure for night shifts.
Responsibilities- 54-bed Emergency Department at a state-designated Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center treating more than 60,000 patients per year
- Patient population spans all age groups across critical/trauma and general emergency cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 for all other patients
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as assigned
- Floating to other units and hospitals is required
- EMR:
Meditech (experience not required) - ED and ICU RNs are required to complete an on-site skills test in addition to an online pre-test prior to starting
- Virtual orientation will include competency-based modules — no Health Stream modules are required prior to start
- Solid navy scrubs required
- Local candidates are welcome to apply at the same rates with no radius restrictions
- The ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff
- Timekeeping is managed through Centricity
- Active AL state or compact RN license currently in hand — no pending or temporary licenses accepted, and no hits on license allowed (past or current)
- Associate degree in nursing required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in emergency nursing
- Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NIH Stroke Scale, and TNCC
- SECURE on-site certification required
- Must provide 2 professional references from within the last year, current driver's license, and license verification via NURSYS for consideration
