Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry - Stroke Night Shift position in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of experience and an active AL or Compact RN license.
Responsibilities- 42-bed Heart Failure and Stroke unit dedicated to patients with neurological and cardiac conditions such as congestive heart failure and acute stroke
- Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6
- Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to other units and hospitals is required
- Uses Meditech EMR (experience not required)
- 13-week contract
- Works alongside cardiologists and neurologists managing complex neuro-cardiac conditions
- Scrub color requirement: solid navy
- A Cardiac Exam will be required upon offer acceptance
- No pre-start Health Stream modules required — competency-based modules are completed during virtual orientation
- Holiday coverage required for all assigned holidays
- Local candidates are welcome to apply with no radius restrictions
- Timekeeping system:
Centricity
- Active AL or Compact RN license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on license allowed
- Certifications required: BLS (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; candidates with 18 months may be considered
- At least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or Stroke specialty required
- Associate's degree in nursing required
- NURSYS verification required
- Current driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
