OverviewUtilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for the provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy service standards.

Responsibilities include assessing patients’ needs, delivering direct nursing care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring quality and safety of patient care.
QualificationsEducation:
Graduate from a school of nursing (Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
Licensure:
Obtain and maintain a current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure, meeting all state board of nursing requirements.
Experience:
Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
- Push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Prolonged standing and walking each shift.
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – must be current.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – may be required based on position/unit.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – may be required based on position/unit.
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) – may be required based on position/unit.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – may be required based on position/unit.
- Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurse (CPHON) – may be required.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) – may be required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – may be required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – may be required.
- Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) – may be required.
- S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules – may be required.
- C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification) – may be required.
- Other unit‑specific certifications as required.
