Assistant/Associate Professor of Developmental Biology
We seek an exceptional scholar‑teacher whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen the department’s existing programs in cellular/molecular biology, microbiology, biotechnology, and biomedical sciences. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, student mentorship, and high‑quality scientific teaching.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned biology courses, including lectures and laboratories.
- Develop and teach upper‑level electives aligned with the candidate’s expertise.
- Engage in professional development and demonstrate a commitment to instructional excellence, student engagement, and lifelong learning.
- Incorporate research‑based or inquiry‑driven teaching approaches to promote student engagement and success.
- Pursue intramural and extramural funding to support research activities.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research projects, publish findings in journals and conferences, secure external funding through grant writing, and mentor graduate students.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, maintaining accessibility through office hours and electronic communication.
- Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment.
- Participate in departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings and submit required reports.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and administration.
- Ph.D. in Developmental Biology, Neurobiology, Embryology, or a closely related discipline.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity (peer‑reviewed publications).
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching.
- Ability to mentor students in both coursework and research settings.
- Evidence of or strong potential for securing external funding.
- Experience supervising undergraduate research.
- Proficiency with modern molecular, cellular, imaging, or computational techniques relevant to the position.
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to walk short distances.
- Ability to prepare and analyze data and figures.
- Ability to view a computer terminal and engage in extensive reading.
- Ability to utilize technology and innovative pedagogy to enhance teaching and learning.
- Ability to work effectively in teams.
- Commitment to working with a diverse student population in a multicultural environment.
