Assistant/Associate/Full Professor – Equine Practice Job Summary

The successful candidate requires participation in classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction of veterinary students, graduate students, interns, and graduate veterinarians, the development of creative scholarship and collaborative research activities in equine practice, and the implementation of innovative teaching and service programs. Participation in client medicine and surgery services to the Large Animal Teaching Hospital, with an emphasis on equine cases, is required.

• Classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction of veterinary students, graduate students, interns, and graduate veterinarians.
• Creative scholarship and collaborative research in equine practice.
• Develop innovative teaching and service programs.
• Provide client services, including medicine and surgery.
• Provide after-hours/on-call emergency duty.
• Develop strong professional relationships with referring veterinarians.
• Participate in state and national outreach and continuing education.
• Participate in college and university committees.

• Three to four years of postgraduate clinical experience, including a large animal rotating internship and/or clinical instructor experience in an academic setting.
• Clinical experience and documented competence in medical and surgical management in all large animal species, with an emphasis on equine clinical practice.

• Ability to operate standard office equipment.
• Ability to walk short distances.
• Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items.
• Ability to view a computer terminal.
