Career And Technical Education Teacher

The career and technical education (CTE) teacher will play a crucial role in preparing students for successful careers by delivering high-quality instruction in accordance with Alabama State Department of Education standards. This position involves teaching a variety of CTE courses that provide students with essential knowledge and skills for future workforce readiness.

Reports To:

Principal and/or Director of Career and Technical Education

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and applicable industry license or certification
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree may be required for certified CTE teacher positions
  • Professional teacher certificate in the area of responsibility by the Alabama State Department of Education prior to starting date
  • Fingerprint clearance with the Alabama State Department of Education prior to the start date

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach the Alabama Course of Study (ACOS) with fidelity
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student's progress and development and prepare required reports
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings
  • Develop and implement engaging and relevant curriculum aligned with Alabama State Department of Education CTE standards
  • Design instructional materials, projects, and assessments that integrate academic and technical concepts to enhance student learning
  • Deliver effective classroom instruction using a variety of teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles
  • Provide hands-on learning experiences that simulate real-world workplace environments
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and success
  • Assess student learning outcomes through formative and summative assessments aligned with CTE standards
  • Use assessment data to inform instructional practices and provide timely feedback to students
  • Guide students in exploring various career pathways related to the CTE program area
  • Assist students in setting educational and career goals based on their interests and aptitudes
  • Collaborate with industry partners and community stakeholders to enhance CTE program relevance and alignment with workforce needs
  • Foster partnerships with post-secondary institutions for dual enrollment opportunities and career pathway continuity
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry trends, technologies, and instructional best practices
  • Participate in CTE-related workshops, conferences, and networking events to enhance teaching skills and program quality
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administrators

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time
  • The employee must also talk, hear, stand, and walk
  • The employee may be required to use their hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
