Job Duties
- Provides reference and research assistance to library patrons and staff. Coordinates "specialized instruction" programming, which includes activities such as orientation, course related bibliographic instruction and in-house training. Develops information literacy classes for undergraduate and graduate students. Works with the Head of Reference Services to customize databases to maximize usability for Tuskegee University students, faculty and staff. Understand and use subscription databases and the book collection in search of materials that meet the user's needs.
Assist in the development and design of marketing information services to the Tuskegee University Community. Collaborate with library faculty in developing, implementing and assessing new instructional initiatives. Create and update Lib Guides, FAQs, monitor and answer questions from the Ask a Librarian platform. Facilitate consistent and timely access to electronic resources by maintaining and updating links, troubleshooting, and providing user support.
Evaluate new products and services for possible library use. Collect statistics. Serves on library and University committees. Serves as liaisons to specific departments, providing collection development and outreach to faculty. Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) - Master of Library Services (MLS) from an ALA accredited institution. At least one year of teaching experience or library experience at a professional level working knowledge of a wide variety of electronic reference databases/ Internet.
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills. Computer literate in Social Media. Working knowledge of Springshare software specifically, Lib Guides, Lib Answers, and Ask a Librarian. Working knowledge and understanding of Zoom software. Ability to effectively interact with library staff and the university community
