Information Literacy/Reference Librarian
Under the general supervision of the Head of Reference Services, the Information Literacy/Reference Librarian will provide reference and information literacy instruction and reference services to students and faculty at Tuskegee University.
Responsibilities- Provides reference and research assistance to library patrons and staff and coordinates "specialized instruction" programming, which includes activities such as orientation, course related bibliographic instruction and in-house training.
- Develops information literacy classes for undergraduate and graduate students.
- Works with the Head of Reference Services to customize databases to maximize usability for Tuskegee University students, faculty, and staff.
- Uses subscription databases and the book collection to locate materials that meet user needs.
- Assists in the development and design of marketing information services for the Tuskegee University Community.
- Collaborates with library faculty in developing, implementing, and assessing new instructional initiatives.
- Creates and updates Lib Guides, FAQs, and monitors and answers questions from the Ask a Librarian platform.
- Facilitates consistent and timely access to electronic resources by maintaining and updating links, troubleshooting, and providing user support.
- Evaluates new products and services for possible library use.
- Collects statistics.
- Serves on library and university committees.
- Serves as liaison to specific departments, providing collection development and outreach to faculty.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Master of Library Services (MLS) from an ALA accredited institution.
- At least one year of teaching experience or professional level library experience and working knowledge of a wide variety of electronic reference databases/Internet.

Skills and Attributes- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Springshare software (Lib Guides, Lib Answers, Ask a Librarian).
- Working knowledge and understanding of Zoom software.
- Ability to effectively interact with library staff and the university community.
