Clinical Instructor – Equine Practice
Position Summary:
Clinical Instructor position in Equine Practice. The successful applicant must have a commitment to the University’s tri‑partite mission of teaching, research, and service and will participate in classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction of veterinary students, graduate students, and interns. The role includes creative scholarship, collaborative research activities, and delivery of effective teaching and service programs. Clinical services encompass client medicine and surgery in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s large animal services with an emphasis on equine cases, as well as after‑hours emergency duty.
The candidate must develop strong professional relationships with referring veterinarians and participate in state and national outreach and continuing education. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a collegial, diverse team approach are essential.
- Instruct classroom, clinical, and laboratory courses for veterinary students, graduate students, and interns.
- Participate in creative scholarship and collaborative research in equine practice.
- Deliver effective teaching and service programs.
- Provide client services, including medicine and surgery.
- Serve on after‑hours/on‑call emergency duty.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with referring veterinarians.
- Participate in state and national outreach and continuing education.
- Collaborate with other faculty in supervision of staff technicians and animal caretakers.
- One or more years of postgraduate clinical experience, including a large animal rotating internship or clinical instructor experience in an academic setting.
- Clinical experience and documented competence in medical and surgical management in all large animal species, with an emphasis on equine clinical practice.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a collegial and diverse team environment.
