The Physical Education Adjunct Instructor will teach a variety of physical activity classes that support students' physical development, fitness knowledge, and overall well-being.
Design, deliver, and assess physical activity courses at the collegiate level. Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment. Encourage active participation. Foster positive attitudes toward lifelong health and fitness. Perform other duties as assigned.
A graduate degree in physical education, kinesiology, exercise science or related areas. Terminal degree highly desired. Excellent communication skills. Availability for on campus instruction for traditional course delivery. Successful teaching experience at the college/university level and teaching experience within a multicultural environment.
Ability to operate standard office equipment. Ability to walk short and long distances. Ability to view a computer terminal.
Knowledge of cardiovascular fitness, strength training, flexibility, and wellness to design course environment that promote holistic health. National and institutional standards for physical education to align course objectives with accepted guidelines for student fitness and wellness outcomes.
Skills:
Assess physical fitness, skill competency, and progression to monitor student performance and provide feedback. Proficiency with tools and technologies used in physical fitness tracking and online assessments. Proficiency with teaching strategies for physical activity instruction. Ability to assess the awareness of safety practices, injury prevention, and first aid protocols relevant to physical education to ensure a secure environment for students. Physically participate in the class activities, including demonstration, skill breakdown, and hands-on correction techniques, as well as adapting activities for diverse skill levels.
No travel required. No night, weekend, and after hour work required. No position supported using grants or contract funding.
