Clinical Instructor-Equine Practice

Clinical Instructor position in Equine Practice. The successful applicant must have a commitment to the University's tri-partite mission of teaching, research, and service. This position requires participation in classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction of veterinary students, graduate students, and interns. The successful applicant must participate in creative scholarship and collaborative research activities in equine practice and deliver effective teaching and service programs.

Participation in providing client medicine and surgery services to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital large animal services, with an emphasis on equine cases, is required. Clinical services also include participation in after-hours emergency duty. The successful applicant must develop strong professional relationships with referring veterinarians and participate in state and national outreach and continuing education. The successful applicant must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and work collaboratively with others (faculty, staff, students) in a collegial and diverse team environment.

Instruct classroom, clinical and laboratory courses for veterinary students, graduate students, and interns. Participate in creative scholarship and collaborative research in equine practice. Deliver effective teaching and service programs. Provide client services, including medicine and surgery. After-hours/on-call emergency duty. Develop strong, professional relationships with referring veterinarians. Participation in state and national outreach and continuing education. Collaborate with other faculty in supervision of staff technicians and animal caretakers.

DVMor equivalent degree. One or more years of postgraduate clinical experience, including a large animal rotating internship and/or clinical instructor experience in an academic setting, will be given preference. Clinical experience and documented competence in medical and surgical management in all large animal species, with an emphasis on equine clinical practice, are required.
