Sports Information Director
Job Summary
Serve as the Sports Information Director for all intercollegiate programs, ensuring compliance with institutional, SIAC, and NCAA obligations. The SID provides strategic direction for athletic communications, media relations, digital content, and game day operations, aligning with the University’s PR goals.
Responsibilities- Expand opportunities for publicizing the University’s intercollegiate athletics programs by serving as a liaison between the university and external sources, including media outlets, alumni, fans, and sponsors, as well as internal sources such as student athletes, coaches, faculty, staff and administration.
- Write and publish news releases for all intercollegiate athletics programs, including hometown updates for student athletes; assist with editorial content and design of recruiting pieces, game programs and special event publications.
- Compile and distribute official statistics for all athletic teams, reporting results to the SIAC, NCAA, and media outlets.
- Manage home game day official scoring and game event personnel, including broadcast production and streaming.
- Organize and maintain photography, video, and marketing needs using the University’s staff photographer and other resources for the Athletic Department.
- Provide materials and information for the University’s publications to promote intercollegiate athletics programs to internal and external constituencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or related field.
- Experience managing and updating an athletic department website via a CMS.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and statistical software such as Stat Crew, Genius Sports, and Presto for live game stats.
- Ability to travel extensively.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends and after hours as required by the athletic season.
- Work indoors and outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions and temperature extremes.
- Required ability to walk and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of NCAA and SIAC policies and procedures.
