Two Postdoctoral Associate positions in Agricultural Economics – Tuskegee University
The College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences (CAENS) at Tuskegee University invites applications for two Postdoctoral Associates in Agricultural Economics. These benefit-eligible, non-faculty positions support USDA-funded research. We seek motivated, intellectually mature scholars who can lead project components, work independently, and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary, multi-institutional team. Applicants may apply to either position or to both.
POSITION 1 — Consumer and Producer Behavior in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA)This position supports a USDA Sustainable Agricultural Systems (SAS) project on consumer and producer behavior related to controlled environment agriculture (CEA) products and practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead the design and implementation of national and regional surveys targeting consumers and/or producers.
- Conduct high-quality empirical analysis using stated and/or revealed preference methods, including discrete choice experiments and related applied econometric tools.
- Mentor graduate students and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance research environment.
- Prepare peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference presentations, technical reports, and other scholarly outputs in a timely and professional manner.
- Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or a closely related field by the start of employment.
- Demonstrated expertise in stated and/or revealed preference methods, including discrete choice experiments, experimental auctions, or closely related approaches.
- Experience designing, implementing, and managing national or regional surveys.
- Strong programming and data analysis skills in Stata, R, Python, or comparable statistical software.
- Experience with Ngene or similar experimental design software.
- Field or real experiment design experience is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including academic writing for peer-reviewed publications and professional audiences.
- Strong project management, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with faculty, students, and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deliverables, meet deadlines, and contribute to peer-reviewed research outputs.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity, professional maturity, and initiative is strongly preferred.

POSITION 2 — Food Systems and Food Assistance ProgramsThis position supports USDA NIFA-funded research related to food systems, food assistance programs, agricultural and applied economics, and data-driven strategies to improve food and nutrition security.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Contribute to research on agricultural economics, food systems, food assistance programs, consumer behavior, and related applied policy issues.
- Conduct empirical analysis using applied microeconomic, econometric, forecasting, or other quantitative methods.
- Work with survey, administrative, program, or other large-scale datasets.
- Support data collection, data management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting for grant-funded research projects.
- Prepare peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference presentations, technical reports, and other scholarly outputs in a timely and professional manner.
- Mentor students and contribute to a collaborative research environment.
- Communicate research findings to academic, professional, community, and stakeholder audiences.
- Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or a related field by the start of employment.
- Strong training in applied economics, quantitative analysis, food or agricultural systems, consumer behavior, policy analysis, or a related area.
- Experience with empirical research design, data analysis, and interpretation of quantitative results.
