We are a creative architecture studio built on craftsmanship, curiosity, and a commitment to thoughtful design. Our team blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution to bring clarity, purpose, and personality to every project we touch. We value collaboration, take pride in our work, and believe that great ideas come from an environment where people feel supported, inspired, and empowered to push boundaries.
Joining us means becoming part of a group that cares deeply about the details, the process, and the people behind the work.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Architect to lead healthcare projects requiring OSHPD review and HCAI submittals. The role will focus on delivering code-compliant construction documentation for hospitals, clinics, and medical facilities, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and guiding projects through OSHPD/HCAI plan review and permitting. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills in Revit and construction documentation with proven experience in healthcare design and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architectural design and production of construction documents for healthcare projects (hospitals, clinics, medical tenant improvements) subject to OSHPD jurisdiction.
- Prepare, review and manage OSHPD and HCAI submittals, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory and agency requirements.
- Develop and maintain coordinated Revit/BIM models and ensure accurate drawing sets for architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
- Perform code analysis and ensure compliance with California Building Code, OSHPD criteria, NFPA, ADA, and other applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with clients, owners, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies throughout design, plan review, and construction phases.
- Oversee quality control and QA/QC processes for construction documentation, including drawing and specification reviews.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior architects and project staff, fostering best practices for healthcare design and documentation.
- Participate in client presentations, project meetings, and site visits, including construction administration and RFI/submittal responses.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to meet client expectations and regulatory timelines.
- Identify design and constructability issues early and develop practical solutions to minimize delays during OSHPD/HCAI review and construction.
Qualifications
- Architectural license in California (AIA NCARB or equivalent) required; active California registration preferred.
- Minimum 8 to 12 years of professional experience with a strong emphasis on healthcare architecture, hospitals, or clinic projects.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and managing OSHPD and HCAI plan submittals and navigating the OSHPD review/approval process.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit/BIM for healthcare projects and the ability to produce and coordinate construction documentation.
- Strong knowledge of construction documentation standards, detailing, specifications, and coordination with structural and MEP disciplines.
- Thorough understanding of applicable codes and standards (California Building Code, OSHPD requirements, NFPA, ADA) and experience performing code analysis.
- Proven experience in construction administration, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site observations.
- Excellent communication, client-facing, and team leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with project management, scheduling, and QA/QC processes for complex healthcare projects.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under the time constraints typical of regulatory review and construction timelines.
