Propulsion System Simulation Engineer - Battery / Energy Systems Overview We are seeking a Propulsion System Simulation Engineer to support advanced engineering programs through detailed modeling and simulation of battery and energy storage systems. This role focuses on analyzing system performance, including discharge behavior, durability, and charging characteristics, to inform design and testing decisions. This is a hybrid position offering a balance of independent technical work and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced engineering environment.
Work Schedule & Environment Hybrid schedule (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
Standard business hours with flexibility to support early start times as needed
Collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment
Key Responsibilities Conduct simulations of battery and propulsion systems, including:
Discharge performance
Charging behavior
System durability and lifecycle analysis
Analyze simulation results and recommend next steps to support engineering and testing decisions
Track simulation outputs, assumptions, and action items for ongoing program support
Manage and prioritize simulation workload across multiple projects
Collaborate with engineering, validation, and design teams to integrate simulation insights
Maintain detailed documentation of simulation models, inputs, and results
Support continuous improvement of simulation methodologies and workflows
Ensure simulations align with project timelines and engineering standards Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 2+ years of experience in:
Battery systems
Energy storage
Electric propulsion or similar simulation environments Required Skills Proficiency in simulation tools such as: MATLAB/Simulink Python or equivalent modeling tools
Strong understanding of battery system performance, including charging, discharge, and durability
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and drive decisions
Excellent documentation and communication skills Preferred Skills
Experience with battery pack modeling or electric propulsion systems
Knowledge of battery cell, module, and pack-level electrical and thermal behavior
Experience with simulation workflows related to:
Fast charging (DCFC)
Discharge profiling
Durability modeling
Experience managing simulation workloads across multiple programs
Ability to support knowledge transfer and documentation for ongoing engineering efforts Core Competencies Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
