Position SummaryThe Supervisor has primary responsibility for all Programming and Operational aspects of the Placentia Emergency Shelter. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the facility is adequately staffed to ensure safe and efficient daily operations, and oversees administration, resident concerns, event planning and employee relations. In addition, they are responsible for establishing/maintaining productive relationships with external agencies and other TSA locations. The Supervisor must fully embrace the ministry and mission of The Salvation Army, accept its Christian principles and values, and protect and enhance the image of The Salvation Army to the public.

Shelter Operations Management
- Drive the successful operation of a shelter environment that is safe for clients, staff, and visitors, as well as conducive to the effective provision of service resulting in the transition of shelter residents to permanent housing, sobriety, and/or employment.
- Coordinate and oversee (including by delegation), all special events for residents/staff, including holiday and recognition events.
- Oversee facilities cleanliness (including bed areas, parking lots and outdoor spaces), maintenance (including vehicles and shuttles) and miscellaneous site issues with facilities staff to ensure prompt resolution.
- Directly supervise Lead Ambassadors, Housing case managers, facilities and conduct regular check-ins with Kitchen Carem Inc, Food Service departments and other vendors. Co-supervise clinician and pet care specialist.
- Conduct weekly one-on-one sessions with subordinate staff to support professional development, effective service provision, and establish, achieve, and monitor departmental goals.
- Lead by example in establishing and maintaining effective communications and appropriate boundaries with co-workers, subordinates, shelter residents, volunteers, and guests.
- Facilitate, design, and conduct In-Service training sessions for program and operations staff as needed.
- Ensure coverage of subordinate management staff during their absences, including Program and Operations Supervisors.
- Coordinate with Leads to ensure appropriate staff coverage for all shifts (including On Call). Covers open shifts when replacements are not available.
- Support weekly/monthly department staff/leadership meetings and check-ins.
- Serve as key point person for all shelter policies and procedures, including developing, updating, and maintaining all related forms and policies.
