Compensation: $42.33 - $45.00 / hour

Description

The Specialty Training Registered Nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients, ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines, physicians, and support staff. Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychosocial, psychomotor, and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.

Will reevaluate patient response and outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge, and revise plan or make referrals as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care, including administering medications, treatments, and procedures appropriate to patient age and condition
  • Assess patient conditions, recognize clinical changes, take appropriate action, and document interventions accurately
  • Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
  • Coordinate patient care across disciplines to ensure continuity of care throughout the treatment and discharge process
  • Advocate for patients and families, including making appropriate referrals when social or financial resources are limited
  • Review diagnostic results, identify critical findings, and communicate promptly with the care team
  • Supervise, delegate, and support patient care activities to appropriate staff while ensuring quality and safety standards
  • Provide patient and family education related to treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, HIPAA regulations, and scope of nursing licensure
  • Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, accountability, teamwork, and integrity in all patient and staff interactions

This is a 12 hour day shift position.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills in an acute care / ICU environment
  • Proficiency in administering medications, treatments, and procedures safely and accurately
  • Knowledge of evidence-based nursing practices, patient safety standards, and quality of care measures
  • Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and elevate care appropriately
  • Effective care coordination skills across interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and support staff
  • Competence in developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care plans
  • Clear, compassionate communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols, HIPAA regulations, and hospital compliance standards
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain composed in fast-paced, high-acuity clinical settings
  • Experience supervising, delegating, and supporting patient care activities when applicable
  • Cultural sensitivity and professionalism in caring for diverse patient populations
  • Adaptability to variable shifts, changing workloads, and evolving clinical environments
  • Active, current, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • At least six (6) months of nursing knowledge and experience in an acute care setting
  • Acceptance into a unit-specific hospital specialty training program (ICU)
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to maintain flexibility, professionalism, and composure in a continuously changing clinical environment
