Testing Requirements

Testing is required. Tests include General typing, TF Clerk Data Checking, Contact Data Entry. Tests conducted by Idaho Department of Labor, Magic Valley Office. All test results must be submitted before the posting deadline to be considered for the position.

Job Description

Classified as a combination of administrative and clerical duties. Employees perform a wide range of office support functions using independent judgment to apply existing policies and procedures. Responsibilities include responding to non‑routine inquiries and explaining department services, policies, procedures, and the rationale behind decisions to customers. Employees routinely use computer operations and specialized software to complete daily assignments, maintain records, and schedule appointments.

Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming phone calls and greet walk‑in customers, provide general information and referrals.
  • Compile an inventory of election supplies and place orders when needed.
  • Complete data entry of voter registration cards, absentee ballot request forms, and party affiliation changes.
  • Open absentee ballots and verify signatures on petitions and candidate filings.
  • Assist the public, candidates, and political parties with public records requests for campaigns.
  • Prepare campaign packets and process absentee requests for elections.
  • Recruit and train poll workers; secure polling places and maintain contact lists.
  • Schedule poll worker training and work crews.
  • Mark ballot test decks, proof ballots, and test computer portal and tabulator equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of electronic poll books, printers, and equipment; secure and check polling places; deliver supplies as needed.
  • Process payroll claim forms for election personnel and polling sites.
  • Accept and review application forms from customers.
  • Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities and business transactions.
  • Provide clerical and support services to staff members as needed, including taking messages, setting appointments, providing information, processing and preparing documents and correspondence, screening and distributing mail, preparing and tracking mailings and legal notifications, and inputting data into a central computer system.
