The Applied Bookkeeping Instructor provides technical and subject area expertise in their respective programs. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to instruct and train students in skills related to entry level bookkeeping/accounting workforce.

Responsibilities include student instruction, curriculum development, program planning, community and industry outreach, student recruitment, scheduling, purchasing and budgeting, and program evaluation. The instructor will maintain strong ties with local industry, providing technical assistance where appropriate, and work closely with other instructional and administrative personnel. This position requires or will require eligibility for an Idaho Career-Technical Postsecondary teaching credential.

Instructional responsibilities may include day, evening, online, or hybrid teaching as required. A standard full-time faculty workload is 37.5 hours per week, which includes at least 5 posted office hours. Professionalism, collaboration, and dedication to student achievement are central to this position.

Working under the direction of the Program Manager, the instructor will implement practical instructional methods, develop effective assessment tools, and foster positive relationships with students. Engagement in institutional service, professional development, and support for student success—both academically and personally—is expected.

Teaching both online and face-to-face in Twin Falls.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach a full semester credit load of courses in accordance with the descriptions published in the CSI catalog. This may include topics such as Financial Accounting, Payroll, Quick Books, Intermediate Accounting Topics, Applied Business Math, and a program-specific capstone course.
  • Teach classes in various modalities including hybrid, online and face-to-face, and zoom-assisted synchronous.
  • Maintain course content in the Learning Management System Canvas.
  • Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Center to create high-quality, pedagogically sound courses.
  • Complete Inspire Ready! training or the equivalent university coursework as required by the Idaho Division of Career and Technical Education Division to obtain teaching credentials.
  • Design and help implement curriculum that is relevant to current practices in the industry.
  • Coordinate with others who are teaching within the program to ensure program-level objectives are being met.
  • Continuously review and update curriculum and instructional technology with the department chair.
  • Collaborate annually with those in the department to complete program review.
  • Implement course-level and program-level outcomes assessment strategies.
  • Recruit and advise students in conjunction with other departments on campus.
  • Assist with an annual plan for the unit (program) development and budget.
  • Participate in the biannual, industry-specific advisory committee.
  • Develop and cultivate positive relationships with local industry.
  • Maintain all industry certifications or licensure.
  • Mentor, support, and assist dual credit faculty and the entire Early College Unit by serving as a faculty liaison to dual credit instructors.
  • Participate in activities or organizations to promote professional development including those available on campus or through discipline-specific training.
  • Participate in campus committees, faculty senate, and department meetings and activities.
  • Participate in all graduation exercises.
  • Complete all administrative duties including, but not limited to, entering attendance, dropping students for no-show, summarizing student evaluations at the end of each semester, uploading syllabi to the central repository, etc., following campus-wide or department-level policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Significant full-time, successful bookkeeping/accounting industry employment OR relevant postsecondary education.
  • Online education (development and pedagogy) is strongly preferred.
