About Gem Prep
Gem Prep is a K-12 college preparatory school. Our goal is to have all secondary students graduate from high school with an associate degree. Our elementary program builds a strong academic foundation for grades 6-12.

Gem Prep is seeking a dedicated and student-centered School Counselor who is passionate about helping students navigate academic, social-emotional, and college/career pathways. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, flexible, and committed to ensuring every student is supported and empowered. School Counselors at Gem Prep play a critical role in fostering safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments while guiding students toward long-term success.
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Support & Services
- Provide individual and group counseling to support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
- Assist students in developing problem-solving skills, positive coping strategies, and healthy decision-making.
- Support crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and restorative practices when needed.
- Assist students with goal setting, academic planning, and preparing for postsecondary pathways.
- Support students with college applications, scholarships, dual credit opportunities, and career exploration.
- Work closely with administrators, teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student needs are met.
- Participate in multidisciplinary and student support meetings, providing insights into student progress and needs.
- Communicate professionally and consistently with families to support student success.
- Implement components of a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with state and national standards.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports according to school and state requirements.
- Support implementation of school wide social-emotional programs, behavior frameworks, and intervention systems.
Required:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field.
- Valid Idaho Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential or ability to obtain one.
- Commitment to serving diverse and underserved student populations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a public K–12 school setting.
- Experience supporting students with social-emotional or behavioral needs.
- Familiarity with MTSS, restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, or SEL frameworks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
