Summary
Sawtooth Elementary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our educational team as an ERC Paraprofessional. This position plays a critical role in supporting students with diverse learning needs within the Exceptional Resource Classroom. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers, students, and families to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment, ensuring that all students have access to the resources and assistance they need to succeed academically and socially.
Responsibilities- Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide direct support to students in the classroom, helping them with academic tasks, social skills, and behavioral management.
- Facilitate small group instruction and provide one‑on‑one assistance to students as needed.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, reporting any concerns to the classroom teacher or special education coordinator.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to special education.
- Support students during transitions between classes, lunch, and other school activities.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and adhere to school policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred. Requires two years of college, an AA degree, or successfully completed the Para Pro Assessment (Praxis Exam).
- Experience working with students with special needs or in a school setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of special education practices, behavior management techniques, and instructional strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, teachers, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the learning and development of students.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Must pass a background check and any required training prior to employment.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug‑free workplace pre‑employment screening.
